Behavior

Students are expected to obey the instructions of the instructors, supervisors and administrative personnel at all times. Students are expected to behave in a safe manner in relation to themselves, others, and both school and student property. Vandalism, violence, or theft will not be tolerated. Any child found to be disruptive to the program or to teachers may be dismissed from Golden Key Art programs with no refund. Final decisions made regarding dismissals will be handled by the Golden Key Art Administrators.

Our goal is to establish and maintain a behavior management system which will reinforce the following positive behaviors:

  • Respect Others
  • Respect Property
  • Stay with your Group
  • Leave Unneeded or Disruptive Personal Belongings at Home

If my child’s behavior seriously violates the safety of any child or staff, I understand that he/she may be temporarily remove from and excluded from future participation in the program. In these circumstances, I agree that a parent or authorized adult will pick up my child within 30 minutes of notification.

Discipline Policy

  • Should inappropriate behavior occur, the concern will be discussed with the students, and a written warning will be given.
  • Should inappropriate behavior continue, a second warning will be given and the parents will be notified.
  • Should inappropriate behavior still continue, a third warning will be given, and the student will be suspended for 3 days.
  • Continued behavior problems may result in permanent dismissal. (Refunds will not be given.)

Parents may set up a meeting with the program coordinator or Administrator to discuss individual needs and concerns. We use a consistent, positive approach including redirection, diversion and separation, always promoting self-discipline. Parents will be notified if there is a consistent behavior problem.

Refunds

No refunds will be granted. In addition, no transfer of fees will be allowed to any other program or student.

Cancellations and make-up classes

Missed classes must be rescheduled as long as Golden Key Art is notified by 7:00 p.m. of the previous day. Missed classes can be rescheduled to take place on any of the usual days of operation, up to 2 months after the original class day. Refunds will not be issued. A class cannot be rescheduled more than once. If it is rescheduled and then subsequently missed, it will be treated as a non-refundable cancellation. For the Golden Key Art - Art Camp, missed days are not eligible for makeups. No Refunds will be issued. If you cancel your participation in Golden Key Art entirely, then Golden Key Art will charge you a cancellation fee of 30% of the cost of the remaining time of the enrolled period. As an example: if you cancel on a date that leaves 3 months and 5 days remaining in the enrolled period, then you will be billed for 30% of the pro rata cost of the remaining enrollment, or in this case the charge for 3 months and 5 days. You agree that Golden Key Art may charge any credit card on file from you for this cancellation fee.

Illness

It is in the best interest of your child and the other children if you keep your child at home when he or she is ill. Children with fever, diarrhea, or vomiting will not be admitted to the program. If a child becomes ill while at the program, the parent will be called immediately to pick up the child. Parents will be notified regarding contagious illnesses. Children will be readmitted when they are no longer contagious.

Medication

In accordance with state law, we will not dispense any medication to any child without advance written consent from the parent or guardian. Prescription medication may be given only to the child for whom it is prescribed. Over the counter medication must have the child’s name clearly printed on the container. The parent must complete a “Parent Permission to Administer Medication” form, and give the form and the medication directly to the Administrator in charge. All medication must be in its original container. If these steps are not completed, medication will not be administered.

Medical Treatment

I hereby give my consent to have my child/children treated by emergency medical personnel, a physician, or surgeon, in case of sudden illness or injury while participating in the activities of the Program. I will pay all medical, hospital, or other expenses which my minor children may incur as a result of any treatment provided pursuant to the Program’s policies.

Drop-Off

The parent, family member, or other responsible adult in charge of dropping your child off is responsible for the child until the senior staff checks in the child. The parent may drop their child off outside of the establishment, however Golden Key Art accepts no responsibilities for the child until they are checked in.
